Online notarization when it fits the document
Remote online notarization may allow an eligible signer to complete a notarization through an approved online process with identity verification and an audio-video session. It can be useful for clients who are traveling, out of the local area, or unable to meet in person.
Not every document, lender, agency, county, or receiving party accepts remote online notarization. Please confirm acceptance before scheduling so the completed document is usable for your intended purpose.
Remote online appointment basics
- Eligible acknowledgments and jurats
- Signer identity verification may include credential analysis, identity proofing, knowledge-based authentication (when applicable), and audio-video communication through an approved remote notarization platform.
- A reliable device, camera, microphone, and internet connection
- Document recipient approval before the appointment
